PET SITTING
Frequently Asked Questions
1. I've never left my pet before. What do I need to do?
Your pet's needs are very important to us. Please read the Pet Owner Check List for specific answers.
2. What kinds of pets do you sit?
Cats, Dogs, Guinea Pigs, Hamsters, Rabbits, and fresh water fish .
3. Do you keep them in your home or mine?
Your home. Your pet stays in its own familiar secure environment where all the sights, smells and sounds that say "home!"
4. How many times do you see them each day?
At least once a day for cats and twice a day for dogs. I do not do Every Other Day due to emergencies that may happen to your pet in a 48 hour period.
5. How long do you stay at each visit?
This depends on the kind and how many animals you have. Average time is between 20 - 30 minutes, giving the sitter plenty of time to care and love your pets, as well as bring in the mail, change the lights, and water plants. The time of visit can not be guaranteed, but attempts to accommodate will be made when possible at a small additional fee due to scheduling.
6. Do you or I provide the food?
Customary diet provided by you is followed, so as to not upset your
pet. We ask that you have the necessary supplies. If
re-supply is necessary, reimbursement will be required upon your
arrival home plus a $10 re-supply fee.
7. How much do you charge?
Visit start at $19 for up to 3 combination of pets. $3 for each additional
animal.

10 miles of roundtrip travel are included. Additional mileage is billed @ $.60 per mile for all mileage over 10 miles. (Please note that mileage rate is subject to change based on IRS compensation rates.)
9. Do I pay before or after my return?
Payment is due prior to commencement of service unless otherwise agreed.
Any charges / fees for additional visits, pet supplies or emergency situations
are billed separately by addendum invoice at conclusion of service.
Addendum invoices are due upon receipt of invoice.
10. How much notice do you generally need?
The earlier the better, especially around Holidays. We ask for 1 week's notice, however we require no less than 48 hours notice. Please call us as soon as you can if you have to leave on short notice to avoid a late scheduling fee.
11. What happens if I have to cancel my trip?
Cancellation 48 hours or more in advance, no charge. Less than 48 hour notice, cancellation fee applies.
12. What happens if my return is delayed or I return early?
If your return is going to be delayed contact us immediately so additional visit(s) can be arranged. We want to make sure your pet is taken care of until you return home. The visits will be billed as stated in No. 9 above. If you are returning early please also call us immediately to avoid pet sitter making the trip. Pet Sitting Agreement sets forth all terms with regard to early or delayed return.
13. If my pet becomes ill will you take them to your vet or mine?
The required execution of the Vet Release Form allows us to take your pet for treatment. We want to make sure your pet is cared for immediately. We will attempt to contact you or your designated emergency contact prior to seeking any service. Your pet will be taken to his/her regular vet unless closed. Should your Vet be closed, your pet will be transported to the nearest open animal hospital to be treated there.
14. What if payment at a facility for emergency services is required upfront?
You may provide all credit card information (card number, name on card, expiration date & security code on back of card) to have the services billed directly to you, as long as the facility will accept such payment. In the event the facility will not accept your credit card payment without you being present and payment is expected by Vet/Facility at time of service, EK Errands Express will advance payment and you will be expected to reimburse EK Errands Express immediately upon your return. We also have a system set up where you may give part of your credit card information to your vet and the remaining part to your Sitter / EK which enables a secure means for payment.
15. Is there an additional charge for your time for an emergency situation?
Yes. You agree to pay a rate specified in your pet sitting agreement for time
incurred in an emergency situation.
16. Are you insured?
Yes. We carry $1M pet sitting insurance coverage.
17. Do you work on Holidays?
Yes, however, bookings go fast. Please call us as soon as you know you are
going away. Additional $10 per visit charge for holiday sitting applies--after all we are giving up our holiday to take care of your pet(s). :-)
18. Can you email me to let me know how my pet(s) are doing?
